Catering Host

“This is my first season – I joined last March – and I've been working in the Food & Beverage department. You think of Chessington as a fun place with a good atmosphere, and the job attracted me because it seemed so different – not at all a normal place to apply for a job.

“I'd heard good things about the company before I joined – that they were good employees, and that it was quite a relaxed place to work. I can now say from personal experience that's exactly how it is.

“Working in Food & Beverage, you generally have to be good with families, be happy and have good people skills. A typical day will start with a morning briefing, where you find out which unit you'll be working in that day. When you get to your unit, the first thing you do is check the day's stock delivery, then the team gets busy cooking, serving customers and keeping the environment clean.

A real team

“One of the best things about the job is the social aspect. You get to meet and make friends with so many new people and go to some really good events. It's good working as a team - everyone is really friendly and we all help each other out, especially the new people. The pay is good, and the free tickets are a nice bonus!

“I also get a nice feeling out of helping customers. Even something as simple as singing Happy Birthday to a delighted child can put a smile on your face for an hour. Looking back on the season, there are a lot of good memories. It was definitely challenging and hard work, but I really enjoyed it.”
